Indian Head Massage is a very relaxing treatment used to relieve stress and tension. It uplifts the body, mind and soul. The massage is performed over clothes and thus can be practiced virtually anywhere. As the name suggests the massage is performed on the head, but also on the upper back, shoulders, neck and face. The treatment is shorter than a regular body massage, usually lasting from 20-30 minutes. Indian Head Massages utilizes Marmas which are acupressure points located on the head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and face to stimulate circulation, rebalance energy and release blockages which cause stress and strain.  Course Description Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage has evolved from traditional Indian techniques used for thousands of years. It is used for stress-management, general relaxation, headache pain, and for its ability to soothe subtle energies. This course covers the foundation but goes well beyond the basics. This course has no pre-requisites and no previous education is required. However, having a strong interest in holistic therapies is helpful as we will work with and learn about the subtle energies of the body, using hands-on healing methods and relaxation techniques. There is no time limit for completing this class and you are free to work at your own pace. To complete this class, you will be expected to read all lessons, visit websites, do assignments, share your experiences and comments with the class, and complete case studies. The case studies should be written out in detail after they are performed. Some case studies you will share with the class. Course grading is done on a point schedule. Assignments are worth 20-25 points each.Class participation is counted towards your grade and extra credit. Case studies are valuable at 25 points each. Quizzes are marked individually. Everything you need to learn Indian Head Massage is included in this course. You are free to purchase other materials for Indian Head Massage if you wish, but that is not necessary to complete this course. I do highly recommend you either to purchase a DVD showing IHM or have a massage done so you can experience it. You may choose to do your case studies with oil which will have to be purchased separately. Anyone can join this course and it is well received by estheticians, spa personnel, massage therapists and hair stylists to improve their services and augment income. This course is designed to be thorough yet fun and interactive. We will also explore correct postures for giving the massage and the ambience you want to create. |
